A pirate adventure only.
Setting: Medieval.
Name: Rayne
Real Name: Éloraine Bellerive of Ravenhall
Age: 19
Species: Siren
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Status: Princess of the Ravenhall kingdom(or any other name for an invented kingdom), daughter of the king Gilbert Bellerive
Current: Runaway, on an adventure seeking her birth-mother. Sought by the royal knights for a safe return to the castle.
Singing voice similar to: Hayley Westenra
Appearance
She might look physically delicate and fragile, but has a lot more endurance than expected.
Petite and feminine, of only 5 feet tall.
Has turquoise colored eyes and long hair generally tied in a braid down to her hips.
Personality
Stubborn and passionate, when she has an idea in mind, she pursues it to the end, never leaving a project unfinished. A lover of nature and animals, she holds great respect for Mother Earth. She appears naïve at times, but don't be fooled, she most-likely is pretending in order to test you. She's good at reading people, with good intuition and empathy. She tries to be brave and hide her fear, but she is humble and honest, yet not always allowing others to see her tears.
She sees the good in people and understands the balance of nature, trying at best to be optimistic about life. She's a dreamer that loves stories of adventure and fantasy. Even though she knows she has a gift, a power that she can use to defend herself, she never takes it for granted.
She's playful, optimistic and very curious. Sometimes reckless and mischievous, but knows when it's time to take things seriously.
Abilities and Weaknesses
She can manipulate water, even bend a large area of ocean to her will.
Her voice can influence the mind of mortals, no matter the gender or age. May it be to change their mood, influencing their emotions, to put them to sleep or hypnotize them to her will. If someone plugs their ears, they most likely would not be affected by her voice.
When water threatens to enter her lungs, gills would split open at her ribcage to allow her to breathe underwater.
Her siren form is not one she has yet used, but technically, she could turn into a full merfolk, webbed fingers, piercing pointed thick nails and sharp pointed shark-like teeth. Her legs would fuse together into one single whale-like tail with a long ray spike between the fins. Her skin becomes a slick thick texture similar to most ocean mammals like dolphins, whales and sharks.
Background
Rayne found a letter in her father's office, where one of his contacts had let him know that her mother, Valrya, had been spotted on a pirate owned island named Zanesh. Not only did her father lie to her about her mother being dead, but her step-mother wanting her to be married for political reasons gave her all the motivation she needed to flee. So in the middle of the night, she ran away from the castle, reached the port of this capital city and got a ride to an island, then another.
Because of the island's population being refugees, former slaves and criminals of all kinds, it was well protected against any royalty and feared by many. Difficult to find anyone who would dare bring her even close to the area of that island, Rayne knew she had to find either an ally of pirates or a real pirate ship to board to get there. It was where they could live the lifestyle of their choice, with a piece of land if they had the means and where illegal affairs were taking place. Nobles from neighboring kingdoms would secretly do business with pirates, taking their stolen goods and selling them back into the merchant system. It was how the whole piracy business functioned.

Valrya Blackwater
To pirates, her mother would be known as Captain Valrya Blackwater, a mysterious pirate woman that took over a ship and the crew when she had been captured. She made herself known, respected and a reputation to go treasure hunting in dangerous waters, always coming back with the prize and barely a few casualties among her crew. No one knew she had a daughter, no one knew what the woman really was.
The woman has a strict policy against rape and violence done on the innocents. She is not one that forgives easily and can definitely hold a grudge. She seems to have a secret agenda regarding her search for magical items of legend. Her crew keeps secret as to how many she actually has in her possession. With how wealthy she has become over the years, she could have bought herself an island but instead keeps piracy going. Barely anyone knows that most of her wealth makes up the majority of Zanesh's bank and funs most of the island's establishments and businesses.
She is known to fornicate with both men and women, one or many at the same time and frequently, but holds no romantic interests.

Sirens/Mermaid/Sea Witch
Wedged fingers, gills at their ribcage, they have sharp claws and teeth. They have no hair, no eyebrows, their dorsal fin reaching up their necks and head. They only have small fins around their ear where a human's external ear should be. Some have fins on their forearms, at their shoulders, shoulderblades, along the pelvis and even at their necks, but not all do. Their skin has the smooth texture of a dolphin's with a certain rubbery toughness different to human skin. The variety of colour in skin and eyes are limited to better camouflage themselves depending on their environment. Most fighters can grow a retractable sting at the end of their tail as another form of weapon. Female have nipples inverted that only come out when to feed the growing baby until it grows teeth. As for genitals, the male penis is retracted within and the female slit is held closed until necessary for copulation, both non-visible on the outside.
Matriarchal, sirens live like amazons of deep waters. Carnivorous, hunters, their weapon of choice are spears made primarily with bones of other sea creatures. They have various tribes over vast territories and not all of them abide by the stereotype of hunting human ships. They tend to be limited in expressing emotions, appearing stoic, cold, even devoid of compassion at most. Few have ever shown interest in leaving the waters to walk on land even if they are capable of morphing their bodies to adapt out of the sea, though for short amounts of time and most tribes even forbid it. They do not trust humans, as most are viewed as sources of food but also as dangerous predators that caused the capture and death of many of their kind, the same as they would view sharks unless tamed.
Humans tend to believe the myth that sirens are only female and that they began as cursed humans, while they are actually a cousin race of humans evolved to adapt to a different environment, which is the deep seas. They are, by nature, capable of walking on land, morphing their body into human once on shore in a rather excruciating transformation that has ended the life of many of their kind not strong enough. However, the change does not seem to last for more than a few hours, their lungs being the first to revert back to hardly breathe air without water. With training, some have left the sea altogether and have never returned, but are rarely ever known to be sirens by the world.
Not all of them possess powers to manipulate water, but most of them do hold a hypnotic capability with their voices. Those born with the magic of aqua manipulation tend to make their way higher in ranks in no time, most often elected by others in their tribe if they didn't fight the Matriarch to take her place already. Sirens demonstrate a level of physical strength surpassing even the best of human athletes.
Men are the disposable soldiers, the guards, they live solely to protect the children and weaker women as well as serve for reproduction. They do not hold place in the councils, but are not treated like slaves either. They tend to be the more affectionate ones in relationships and be more submissive in nature due to their culture. They are fierce fighters and will give their lives to protect their tribe.
Children are raised by the entire tribe, living in quarters among those of their age group. Their teachers are known as Mothers, giving the children the love they require which they rarely receive from their biological parents. However, the parents do keep in touch with their children even though they are not very present in their lives. All consider themselves siblings regardless of who has blood ties and many friendships, loves and bonds are formed. In their upbringing, the children are taught to hunt and fight to defend themselves against other predators of the sea.
When it comes to reproduction, only those approved by the Matriarch are allowed to become pregnant. Since the species has innate control over its own fertility rate, there can never be an unwanted pregnancy. A male and female that want to contribute to reproduction will meet with the Matriarch and demand permission. They will then pass a series of tests to assess if they deserve to bear a next generation. Love is never the motivation behind reproduction as male and female can choose even someone they barely know for reproduction. When copulation is done with the only purpose is to result in pregnancy, it is hardly ever pleasurable and quite even painful for the couple. Humans tend to find out the hard way what can happen with a Siren's genitals in situations of rape.
